The following camps are open to children ages 9 through 13:
Calling all inventors! Remember the classic board game Mousetrap? This camp will help your camper design and build their very own Rube Goldberg type machine. Campers will learn hands-on lessons in prototyping, building and testing their very own inventions. On Friday, we will link the machines together to form one giant contraption for the big finale! We will also spend time exploring larger-than-life versions of childhood favorites from Scrabble to Uno, featuring giant tic-tac-toe battles, extra-hungry hippos, and the big finale: a life-size game of Battle Ship!
Cook your way to new knowledge! Led by experts and cooking “chemists”, this camp is sure to inspire and amaze! We will cover fun chemistry that can be done using simple household ingredients as well as more complex recipes that will bring out the “Paula Dean” in your budding chef! Then, in a surprising twist, we will turn our focus to ceramics where campers will get the chance to learn how to “throw” a pot on a potter’s wheel! We will be practicing the wheel along with several other entry-level pottery techniques for upper elementary through junior high. Spend a week with us and develop your knowledge of ceramics and the tools and processes that make this art form so unique! Pinch, paint and perfect your design to take home and use for years to come!
