The Seussical STEAM Fest Field Trip

provides 2nd Graders in VISD and the surrounding 11 counties with the opportunity to conduct outdoor STEM investigations in beautiful downtown Victoria. Learn Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math [STEAM] while enjoying the great resources our lovely city has to offer. Downtown partners, including the Victoria Public Library, The Historic Courthouse, Victoria Preservation Inc. and Prosperity Bank, help bring learning to life in this wonderfully wubbulous Dr. Seuss Celebration!

When: 9am-12:30pm or 10am-1:30pm, March 2, 2020

Where: DeLeon Plaza, Victoria, TX

Why: Because Dr. Seuss + STEM = FUN!

Cost is $7 per student, Chaperones are FREE!

Bring your own sack lunch and pick out a space in the Welder Center Lobby!

 

Sample Schedule:

8:45am - Arrive downtown for orientation and safety talk

9:00am - First Station: Choice of Robots, Coding or Historic Courthouse Tour 

10:00am - Second Station: Math and Money Hands-on Presentation @ Prosperity Bank

11:00am - Visit the interactive booths On The Square for everything STEAM!

12:00pm - Lunch at the beautiful Welder Center!

APRIL

 

Nature Discovery Days Field Trip

This brand new field trip opportunity will provide local school districts with an opportunity to conduct outdoor science investigations while enjoying a beautiful local resource - Riverside Park! Classes that are needing to be off-campus this week (grades 1-3 encouraged, PK/K will be best served at the museum on this day), will be pleasantly surprised to find this oasis of a field trip waiting for them. Learn about nature on a short hike, discuss and practice physical fitness and explore the Guadalupe River.  Each hands-on topic will be investigated and discussed at three stations throughout the park. 

When: 9am-12pm, April 7th

Where: Riverside Park (Grover's Bend Area) Victoria, TX

Why: Because field trips are better in the field!

9:15am - Nature Walk: Learn about the local plants and animals as you hike near the river!

9:45am - Participate in a group scavenger hunt complete with plenty of teachable moments!

10:15am - Sports and Fitness: Learn how to keep your body and mind healthy while enjoying nature!

10:45am -Water Sceince: Study the Guadalupe River using techniques taught by our Specialists!

11:15am - Enjoy a bit of free time to explore and play before lunch

11:45am - Lunch in the park!

NOVEMBER

 

The Junior Marine Exploration Field Trip

provides 4th Graders in the Golden Crescent with the opportunity to conduct outdoor science investigations in environmentally friendly ways while furthering their understanding of the natural world. Learn about specimens and creatures of the bay at the Port Lavaca Lighthouse Beach Park. Each hands-on topic will be investigated and discussed at three stations throughout the park. Program led by Mary Caulkins.

When: 9am-12pm, First Week in November

Where: Lighthouse Beach, Pt. Lavaca, TX

Why: Because field trips are better in the field!

9:00am - Arrive at the beach for orientation and safety talk

9:15am - Crab Station: Learn about the Atlantic Blue Crab and then fish for them using live bait!

9:45am - Participate in a group scavenger hunt and/or sandcastle building competition on the sand!

10:15am - Visit the Marshland environment for a study of fiddler crabs, periwinkle snails, and their unique environment!

10:45am - Check out the beach shallows using a seine net and talk beach conservation with an expert!

11:15am - Enjoy a bit of free time to explore before lunch

11:45am - Lunch at the beach!
